Thank you. I had written a patch that worked around this earlier, but
it was pretty ugly and I didn't want to include it in mainline for
that reason. Since your patch is pretty minimal and seems to work
everywhere, I've checked it into the stable and mainline trees, so
future versions should work well on that compiler.
