Supposedly there is a company that uses a bank of them for that purpose.  I
don't recall what it is off the top of my head, though.

For what it's worth, it was less a matter of planning this experiment and
seeing how well it worked and more a matter of "Hey, I have this Geiger
counter and I don't know what to do with it; you do crazy stuff, see what you
come up with."
